This December join SALT Textiles for an evening of natural dyes and furoshiki wrapping.
In this workshop we’ll be creating our own textiles using the magic of natural dyes, extracting earthly colours from seasonal botanical and food waste. You’ll also learn about simple mordants, natural fabrics, how to develop dyes at home and experimental tie-dye techniques.
Whilst your cloth is dyeing you’ll be taught basic furoshiki wrapping techniques. Learning how to beautifully wrap gifts and other home items - a sustainable, reusable alternative to wrapping paper and plastic bags.
* This workshop is open to all, you need no experience just curious hands.
* All your materials are included.
Guests are asked to bring a re-useable waterproof bag. Any allergies to be passed over to Jordan 48 hours before.
SALT Textiles is a multidisciplinary brand exploring conscious materials and slow processes. Through materials SALT questions our relationship to objects; how they are made, how they are used and the processes behind them - focussing on textiles.
With an awareness of the environment SALT objects are hand-made using thoughtfully sourced fabrics and natural dyes. SALT also hosts regular workshops sharing these forgotten methods and has worked with The Coal Office, Margent Farm and poet Karina Zimmer.
The processes behind SALT develop with Jordan's personal practise, evolving each season.
